When Should I Request Additional Bandwidth?

Although there is no absolute standard for requesting additional bandwidth, here are some general guidelines that may help determine when you should place a change order with TEACH.

If your system runs at 85% or more of your current bandwidth for one to two hours at least three times a week, it may be time to request an increase.

Other factors may also influence when you request an increase to your TEACH-subsidized bandwidth.  For example, the addition of certain web-based applications may push your usage over the currently available bandwidth even though you've experienced no problems in the past.  In these cases, evaluate your potential need with the application provider and have documentation ready when you contact TEACH for additional bandwidth.

Any time you wish to adjust either your WAN or internet bandwidth, fill out the "TEACH Service Change Request" form located under the Services tab on our homepage.  E-mail the change request and usage graphs to Teach@Wisconsin.gov .  All requests will be reviewed within 2 business days to determine whether the increase will be approved or additional information is required.

If you think you may want to request a service change but are having difficulty determining how your TEACH cost might change, just e-mail or give us a call at (608) 261-5054, and we can help.
